#OWASTHERE – Masta Ace Gig Was Just As Good as Last Year, 4 More Gigs Confirmed

What’s good.

Masta Ace was just incredible, just as he was last year.

But he wasn’t the only one that was DOPE. Before Ace and Strickln went on stage, Wordsworth came outta nowhere and gave us a freestyle, performed a few songs, and delivered ANOTHER awesome freestyle.

That alone is better than all the Mos Def shows that I’ve been too, and I’ve seen both Wordsworth and Mos Def twice.

Watch Mos and Words go at it on the Lyricist Lounge Show back in 2000. THIS IS THE ART OF FREE-STYLING.

Remember BabeePower from Lyricist Lounge? He was the DJ!

The show was cut show due to time constraints. But nevertheless, it was a great night.

Most of his songs were from The Show (eMC), Disposable Arts and A Long Hot Summer (Beautiful was the highlight song).

Masta Ace proves once again why he’s one of the most unappreciated  emcees in the game.

I may be going to some special summer jam on Monday. JUST TO SEE WORDSWORTH FREESTYLE.

Dwele Tonight @ Jazz Cafe, Masta Ace booked, RAW next week Monday

What’s good.

I’m gonna see Dwele tonight at world famous Jazz Cafe. I’ve had positive feedback from my friends about how great he is live. So I’m looking forward to it.

It’s also a plus that he’s heavily associated to some of my favourite artists, such as J Dilla, Slum Village, Common…

Also, after that incredible show at the Jazz Cafe last year, I’ve decided to go see Masta Ace again on the 1st of May. I hope he brings Wordsworth too because he was brilliant with his freestyles.

WWE RAW is coming to the O2 on Monday, so that should be interesting. I’ve already seen Smackdown at the O2 last year, so seeing the main superstars on RAW this time should be good. This will also be my chance to do some Fandangoing.

Nothing new added to the list. Nothing else tickled my fancy.

De La Soul, Slum Village & Action Bronson would probably be my next purchases.

NOTE: The added events are in bold.

8 More Music Events Added Including DMX, May Is Looking Serious!

What’s good.

That Nas show was something else. It’ll be hard to top that event, so let’s see if the added events will top that.

I didn’t go to the So Solid Crew event. Apparently it was GREAT.

And I won’t be going to the Jodeci, Blackstreet, Dru Hill, SWV and Changing Faces event @ Wembley Arena.

NOTE: The added events are in bold.

Nas @ The O2 Arena with 2 Chainz & Iggy Azalea

What’s good.

That Nas show was something else man. That was definitely the best show I’ve seen this year, and I’ve seen Kendrick Lamar, J Dilla Changed My Life Tribute, DJ Premier/Statik Selectah and Teedra Moses.

Iggy and 2 Chainz was always going to be uncomfortable in front of a crowd waiting for Nas.

Initially, it was supposed to be Meek Mill supporting, but Meek pulled out (probably because of his criminal record. He cancelled his show last year too).

Coops ft Rexx (the Choice FM competition winners)

Yeah, they were dope! I think ‘How Many Mics’ was a great performance, considering how I love the original from the Fugees.

Iggy Azalea

I’ll be honest, I could NOT keep my eyes of the two dancers on stage.

Just there twerking and shaking their assets. It was nice to see, but I feel it was distracting me from Iggy’s performance.

I got bored then went to the toilet.

2 Chainz

2 Chainz is not a good rapper. FACT.

But he’s the most entertaining rapper right now. FACT.

It would’ve been more enjoyable if you had more 2 Chainz fans surrounding you, then you could enjoy it more. But the fact that most people were static during his songs just shows that he’s performing in front of the wrong crowd.

The highlight of 2 Chainz’ performance was the use of the subtitles behind during his songs. This was also a distraction, but it was used to perfection.

I feel The O2, or Nas, opted to try and get more people to buy tickets by allowing one of the hottest rappers join him instead of letting someone that’s similar Nas.

Let’s be honest, a 2 Chainz and Nas concert doesn’t work. But I enjoyed.

Nas

His crew got rid of the small projector to reveal a big ass WWE titan tron with side ones. Then they carried a black couch on to the stage, very similar to the one Nas was sitting on the Life Is Good cover.

The arena goes dark, the No Introduction song plays and we see Nas chilling on his couch with Kelis’ dress on his lap.

GASSED!!

20130319_215500

Throughout the event, he dropped pretty much every single big song he has done throughout his career.

Although this was a Life Is Good Tour, he managed to squeeze in 8 out of the 10 tracks he had on Illmatic, which was more than the ones he performing back in October.

Let’s not forget the LIVE BAND. I proper felt every track that was played when the live band created their own version of the songs.

Nas paid tribute to the deceased legends: Bob Marley and Amy Winehouse. This was a good touch.

20130319_221128

It’s a cliche in events for artists to go off stage without saying goodbye, then come back to perform again. Nas did this and changed clothes in the process lol.

As you can see, I was at the front.

Better than Kendrick Lamar’s event at the Apollo? You bet.

Nas has had a reputation of doing below par shows, but this show was one to remember. And I’m not even biased because I’m a huge Nas fan. All of my mutual friends that went to it haven’t had a bad thing to say about Nas’ show. That says something.

Thanks for reading.
